Edo tokyo open air architectural museum

江戸東京たてもの園
Address: 3-7-21 Sakurachō, Koganei-shi, Tokyo

Built in 1993, this museum’s collection shows buildings as they were back in the day, with many dating to as old as the Meiji period (but some even older!). See the Toden 7500 (train) which was used until the early 1960s, the Stationary Store ‘Takei Sanshodo’, the public bathhouse, and many more. The facility itself is located in the middle of Koganei Park; accessible from both Higashi Koganei station, Musashi-Koganei station and Hana Koganei station. There is also a cafe located within the premises, inside the ‘house of Georg de Lalande’.

Only those who visit can learn of these famous architectural pieces, their histories and the people who interacted with such sites and just maybe, feel that little bit more knowledgeable about Tokyo and its’ past.
